A long stretch of common land consisting of rough open grassland and wetland, plus a recently planted woodland of native trees. It may originally have been a tidal creek, cut off when the seawall was built.

An attractive pond fringed by black poplar trees supports great crested newts. Corn buntings are often seen here and in the winter you may catch sight of snipe or redshank feeding around the margins of the pond.

Visiting

From the A13, follow the B1017 to Great Wakering and turn left on to Common Road at the end of the High Street.
